Here is a comprehensive list of every singe blog post I’ve ever written. Happy Reading!
Why, of course!
Half an hour to kill. Do I read a 130-pg document on electoral voting in the UK or write something fun in my blog? Not a tough choice there. On a Saturday morning, I was walking toward the London Bridge tube station along River Thames when I heard someone said,…
Happy Halloween!
Halloween falls on a Sunday this year, which fits nicely into a wild Halloween weekend. I’m not usually one that’s crazy into fancy dress (this is what British people call costume parties), but around Halloween time, I usually can get talk into putting on some silly outfit and have a…
An Autumn Day in London
After the printer at the LSE residence failed to print off the articles I need to write a 2,500-word essay on the failure of international financial regulation, despite my best efforts to revive the printer (45 min of fight), I gave up and decided to enjoy my day in London….
Old Friend in London
This weekend, I had my first visitor in London! Juliette, my French friend who spent the first 6 months of my service in Batié with me, was visiting from Paris. We hadn’t seen each other since she left Cameroon a year and a half ago. As always, it’s amazing to…
A Taste of America
On my 3rd consecutive year living away from the U.S.A., I actually am begin to miss that place – the land of abundance (excess). Last week while frolicking through London with Juliette, I discovered this: Juliette being the Parisian that she is, did not share my excitement in stumbling upon…
Putting on My Debate Hat
I haven’t written much about the academic aspect of my experience thus far here at the LSE. To be honest, I really am still trying to figure out what is going on and what is the best strategy in tackling the course work and getting organized so I don’t seriously…
Happy Turkey Day
Yet another Thanksgiving away from home, but fortunately, it seems that no matter where I am, I am always in good company for this holiday. Last year, I celebrated with my Peace Corps family. If you didn’t know this about the Peace Corps, volunteers in the field can cook up…
Small Bit of Cameroon
This past weekend, Autumn invited me to attend a Cameroonian forum with her. Dr. Chris Foumunyo is a leading advocate for democracy in Africa who happens to be Cameroonian. I came in contact with him while raising money for my library project, Books For Cameroon. I was happy to attend…
Snowy Londontown!
This is the front page of tonight’s Evening Standard. Even though I haven’t seen snow in nearly three years, the US Midwesterner in me still couldn’t help but laugh at this overreaction. Snow Storm? Really? It was more like… a dust of snow. None of the snow even stuck to…
Winter Wonderland
People take things for granted, that’s a fact. We are now in full swing of the Christmas season, and some people complain about the over-the-top-ness of the season. I was one of those those who complained until I lived in Cameroon for two holidays seasons where you have no idea…
Under the Tunisian Sun
This week, I escaped London and went to Tunisia to enjoy some warm(er) weather. One of the many perks that comes with attending an international school like the LSE, is that you know people from literally all over the world. My friend Agatha has strong ties in Tunisia and I…
Unplugged
This week while in Tunisia, a part from a few international text messages, I unplugged myself from technology, making the getaway a true break. It was incredible the effect few days of unplugging had on my mental state. Partly because I was immersed in a new place and discovering a…
Thoughts on the LSE MPA
With one term under my belt, people have been asking me what I think of the LSE and the MPA program so far. So here are some personal insights on this prestigious institution and one of its many graduate programs. The London School of Economics and Political Science is fancy,…
Home for the Holidays!
There’s no place like home for the holiday. I’ll be home for Christmas, you can plan for me. Words of these classic Christmas tunes have never applied more for me this year. After two wonderful holiday seasons in the Peace Corps, it is nice to finally be with my family…
A Peace Corps Reunion
The long awaited Peace Corps Cameroon Reunion finally took place this past weekend in Chicago. I rang in the New Year with some of my favorite people in this world! Less than five months since we have all left Cameroon and we already needed a reunion. More than 20 of us joined in on the festivity, coming from around the US by train, air or bus.
